The Fight Against Pollution: How To Get Your Students To Help Make An Impact

by Todd Edwards

Have you noticed pollution is becoming a big problem in the community where you are working as a teacher? No matter where you turn, you may see trash on the streets. If people are not properly disposing of their bottles, bags, papers and other items, it can easily become a problem for the community members as well as the environment. If you are tired of the pollution and want to take a stand against it, there are quite a few things you can do to encourage others to recycle and dispose of their trash correctly.

Teach the Children About Pollution With Fun Activities

While some of the pollution in the area may be caused by adults, some of it is likely caused by children, too. They may not understand what really happens when they choose to throw an old bag of chips on the ground instead of placing it in the trashcan. However, you can set a good example by teaching them an important yet fun lesson.

One way to show children what happens when they pollute is to fill a basin with water and allow each child to add one item to the water at a time. These items may include bottle caps, plastic straws, plastic bottles, candy wrappers and more. After each child adds their item into the water, you can show them how bad the water looks because it is dirty and loaded with debris. It is a simple and easy lesson that can really show them what it is like when the trash that gets thrown on the grown falls into the various bodies of water in the area.

Plan a Monthly Cleaning Day With Your Students

Another way to take a stand in the fight against pollution is to plan monthly cleaning days with the students. You may want to take a field trip to a local park and spend time cleaning it up with the children. It is a learning experience that will make an impact on the community by decreasing the amount of trash that is in the park.

While planning those monthly cleaning days, it is important to purchase and rent out the right supplies. You may want to get in contact with a dumpster rental service. There is a good chance that students will collect a whole lot of trash while in the park and it is important for you to have a good place for them to put it. If you rent out a dumpster, the company can take it to your location and pick it up from you after it is filled up with all the trash that is collected throughout the day. Aside from renting out the dumpster, you may want to purchase plenty of plastic trash bags, gloves and trash grabber tools so that kids can keep their hands protected while picking up garbage from the ground.

If you are a teacher who wants to take a stand against pollution, these are some of the things you can do with your students. Not only can you do something positive for the environment, but you can teach the students a valuable lesson at the same time. To learn more, contact a company like Parks & Sons of Sun City, Inc.

About Me

The Importance Of Industrial and Manufacturing Industries

My name is Donald Tate and in my blog you'll learn the importance of industrial and manufacturing industries in our country. These facilities make numerous products that we use every day and they're also responsible for creating many jobs. I became interested in industrial and manufacturing plants at a young age because my father worked at a plant downtown. One day he took me to the plant so I could see how the products were made. I thought that was the most interesting thing there ever was and I have been fascinated ever since. Because we depend so much on these industries, I have made it my mission in life to learn all I can about various industrial and manufacturing plants. I hope that after reading my blog, you'll also realize this important and necessary contribution to our society.
